Phone calls are intimate, one-on-one conversations between you and your clients. While recording incoming calls can provide significant benefits in determining lead quality and training staff members, the contents of these conversations can clearly contain personal information.

At CallRail, we take your call data security seriously. We understand how important the privacy and security of your phone calls are to you, and want to be sure we protect them from accident or attack. To make sure your CallRail account is as secure as possible, we’re introducing two-factor authentication for all CallRail accounts.

What is Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-Factor Authentication, also known as 2FA or two-step verification, is an extra layer of security that adds an additional step to your basic CallRail login process. It significantly decreases the risk of a hacker accessing your CallRail account by combining your password with a second factor: your mobile phone.

If you’re using 2FA, logging in now requires not only your username and password but also a special randomized code that only you will have access to via either SMS or an authenticator app.

Why Should I Use Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-factor authentication makes hacks and unauthorized access to your call data much more difficult. The number one tip most security experts give for increasing account security and stopping the fallout from data breaches is to turn on 2FA.

Here’s a great video from Telesign on how 2FA can keep you protected:

Using 2FA with your CallRail Account

Getting started with CallRail’s two-factor authentication is a very quick process. Users will only be able to activate 2FA with their own login, so if you would like all users in your account to utilize 2FA you will need to have them do so independently.

To turn on two-factor authentication for your login:

  1. Navigate to your login initials in the top right corner.
  2. Select Profile
  3. Enter your password
  4. Scroll down to Two-factor Authentication, and toggle the switch to On.
  5. Select whether you’d like to authenticate via an SMS message or an authenticator app. If you select SMS, you’ll need to supply us with the phone number of your mobile device you would like to receive the unique login code on. If you choose to use the authenticator app you will need to verify your device either by QR code or a manual key.
  6. We will send you a code via the method of your choosing to confirm access.

That’s it! Your CallRail login is now secure and can only be accessed via two-factor authentication.
