We’re excited to announce that we’ve been named to the Inc. Best Workplaces list for 2022! It’s an honor to be recognized as a culture-leading workplace, given our continued investments into our company values as well as the health, psychological safety, and satisfaction of our 300+ amazing employees.
Making the list wasn’t a simple feat, considering the difficulty businesses had in 2021 with attracting and retaining talent. CallRail is proud to have been able to add over 100 employees over the course of the year, including an 11% increase in employees from previously underrepresented backgrounds as a result of intentional hiring practices.
Over the past year, CallRail is proud to have:
- Introduced safe and thought-provoking conversations around career growth, thanks to a partnership with Inclusivv and an employee panel event
- Launched an internal engagement survey and the first-ever Ringo employee awards
- Become a corporate sponsor of Kennesaw State University and offer discounted classes to employees
- Revamped the employee onboarding process to match the hybrid world we are now working in — and committed to a fully hybrid return to office for employees, where no one is required to be in the office more than 2 days a week
Flexible is the new normal
CallRail has maintained an employee-centric culture since its founding in 2011, but since 2020, the executive leadership team has doubled down on flexibility.
“As long as you’re communicating with your team, we want [employees] to do something that fills their cup, whether that’s taking time in the middle of the day to meet a friend for lunch, or just to get a coffee. That helps them come back and be a better employee,” Whitney Hoffman-Bennett, CallRail’s VP of Talent & Culture, said to the Employee Benefits Network in January 2022.
And CallRail employees clearly responded positively to the new flexible work policies. Inc. surveyed thousands of employees of businesses across the country on topics such as management effectiveness, perks, fostering employee growth, and overall company culture — landing CallRail on the list of 475 workplaces.
_Inc. Magazine_’s editor-in-chief Scott Omelianuk sums it up perfectly:
“Not long ago, the term ‘best workplace’ would have conjured up images of open-office designs with stocked snack fridges. Yet given the widespread adoption of remote work, the concept of the workplace has shifted. This year, Inc. has recognized the organizations dedicated to redefining and enriching the workplace in the face of the pandemic.”
A culture of mutual respect
Core to CallRail’s brand and culture are its culture statements:
- Respect everyone
- Deliver incredible products
- Mind the business
- Work with intensity
- Turn it off
Chief among them — there’s a reason why it’s first in the list — is “Respect everyone.” To make sure this statement is more than just a catchphrase, we launched Good Air in 2021: a company-wide training initiative to foster psychological safety at work through genuine human connection.
Likened to a turbulence-free voyage at a comfortable cruising altitude, the e-learning course helps employees take ownership of cultivating a safe working environment where everyone is equipped and excited to do their best work.
“In 2021, from a cultural perspective, we focused on building a foundation of psychological safety. We made several great strides in 2020 but wanted to focus inward in 2021 and make sure our employees felt comfortable bringing their whole selves to work,” said Hoffman-Bennett.
