UX Apprentice (Contract)

The CallRail UX Mentorship Program is a 3-month full-time paid program for novice UX designers that was created to provide career changers with valuable & meaningful first-hand UX experience within the tech industry. We’re looking for a motivated recent college or bootcamp graduate who would like to gain insight into our UX practices and have the opportunity to make a direct impact in the design of our product.

CallRail is a team of confident self-starters, and that’s the kind of people we look for. Our current group of UX Designers work on cross-functional delivery teams and come together as a core for design collaboration and open peer feedback. As a design team, we’ve got your back and are constantly looking for new, creative ways to promote design at CallRail. On your cross-functional teams, you’ll be supported by a leadership team that has deep product and industry knowledge, product owners who are thoughtful and UX-minded, and a technical team who have built successful products before.

We are currently seeking UX Apprentices for the Summer/Fall 2019 (August-October) cohort.

What You’ll Do

As a CallRail Apprentice, you will be embedded with one of our teams and receive 1 on 1 mentorship while making real contributions towards the CallRail App. Apprentice Designer responsibilities include:

  • Translating stories into wireframes, mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive experiences
  • Defining information architecture
  • Facilitating user research
  • Assisting with planning out user test format, goals, and questions
  • Summarizing and presenting findings to team and stakeholders

Skills & Experience

  • Has worked in a team on a comprehensive student, client, or personal project (bonus points if it was for a real product or company)
  • Strong portfolio showcasing your design and research skills
  • A varied skill profile within UX Design, with core expertise in Interaction (UX) Design, UI Design or Design Research
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills—Must be able to clearly articulate and present design concepts
  • Relevant degree or completion of an immersive UX program
  • Solid understanding of UX methodologies
  • Solid understanding of responsive web design
  • Proficiency in current design tools—Our team uses Figma
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented, and a quick learner

Set Yourself Apart

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in illustration, graphic design, or human centered design
  • Some knowledge of modern HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Previous experience or training in digital marketing
  • Previous experience with responsive web application design—B2B SaaS is a major plus
  • Some experience with data visualization design
  • Great at time management
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-moving, agile environment

Role Details

  • The program is a three month contract
  • We require a minimum of 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday)
  • Apprenticeship is paid at an hourly rate
