Lead Mobile Engineer

Location: Atlanta, GA or Remote (US)

The Position

CallRail is looking for a Lead Mobile Engineer to champion our mobile efforts. You’ll be growing and improving our native iOS and Android applications and furthering our mobile practice. Strong experience in iOS and/or android is required, some experience in both is preferred.

What You'll Do 

    • Grow our product. Focus and motivate your teams to quickly deliver high-impact features and improvements to our platform. 
    • Help us build the CallRail team. Hire, onboard, and retain engineers. Contribute to our engineering organization through collaborative initiatives, such as improving hiring and onboarding processes or iterating on our career paths. 
    • Communicate well. Provide feedback and be clear about expectations. You'll be able to translate organizational strategy into useful and actionable direction for your teams. You'll keep engineering leadership apprised of important developments on your teams.
    • Be a good teammate. Be helpful, open-minded, and collaborative. You'll help support your teammates and ensure they feel, and are, included and valued.  This applies to the delivery teams you participate as well as your manager peer group.
    • Learn. Regardless of your level of experience or seniority, you'll work to improve your skills and learn more about our customers and their needs.
    • Balance competing priorities. Ensure we effectively ship new features while resolving defects, ensuring reliability and managing technical debt.

Desired Skills & Experience

We require you to be willing and able to do all of the things in the previous section. Beyond that, there are a handful of things that may make you a better fit. Experience with the following:

  • Writing iOS (Swift) and Android (Java or Kotlin) applications 
  • Working cross-functionally to deliver our mobile experience, ie: 
    • If there’s a flaw with a backend endpoint, you’re comfortable diving in to help troubleshoot
    • Collaborate on the solutions with the product team
  • Managing release cycles (we release every 2 weeks)
  • Mentoring and coaching other engineers
  • Building software-as-a-service platforms, particularly for small and medium-sized businesses
  • Developing software with security and regulatory compliance in mind
  • Writing automated unit and integration tests
  • Refactoring systems to perform well at scale while still being readable and easy to maintain
  • Reviewing the code in a way that empowers your teammates while improving our codebase
  • Collaborating with an agile team to estimate, plan, manage all of your own tasks, and report on progress
